Mid Century Glass Globe Flower Lamps Plant Tall Floor Table Garden Accent Lights
Unique, striking, attention-getting floor or table lamps, likely from the 1960s, based on style, materials, and construction techniques. I haven't seen anything like them, they are as much art as lighting, or furniture. They appear to be unrestored, although the cords appear to be newer. The switches are on the top of each lamp base, leading me to believe they were originally intended as table lamps. I photographed them on the floor, it made more sense in the limited space and light I had to work with, and they looked at home there also.
Nicely designed, they are well balanced and weighted at the bottom. They are not top-heavy, wobbly, or fragile. Construction is first-rate and they have been handled gently over the years. Each spire is metal tubing, likely brass plated copper, although it's hard to be sure.On one lamp, some of the brass finish is spotted in spots, the other lamp is not. All spires are embedded firmly into the base, nothing is loose on either lamp. The leaves are made of curved steel plates, with a wood veneer that is very well glued/attached to each side. There is no delamination, just some small chips here and there. It is textured but not dried out, giving a shiny, three dimensional, authentically leafy look, albeit in shades of brown. The leaves appear to be epoxied to the spires and follow the curvature top to bottom. One leaf has become detached slightly and should be re-glued.
It's fairly subtle so I preferred to leave it rather than use an inappropriate epoxy. The rest are sturdily attached. The glass globe flowers appear to be handmade.
Each has been custom ground on top to achieve the correct three-dimensional shape, and all are nicely matched with no cracks or breaks. They are frosted white, with a fringe of amber at the top and silver painted detail around the rim. The globes can be rotated on the bases, and the way the glass is cut allows you to choose how the lamps look, and where the light is aimed. Two spare globes are included with the sale-amazing that they have been kept together over the years! One is cracked, and the other looks to have been cleaned incorrectly and the finish is marred, unfortunately. The switches work correctly on both lamps, and there are three lighting patterns: All three bulbs lit, two lower bulbs lit/top off, and top on, lowers off. I showed each configuration in the pictures. The other furniture items seen in some of the photos are to provide scale, it was hard to tell how big the lamps were when photographed standing alone. Only the lamps are included with the sale. Please note that these are used, vintage lamps. Although they are in perfect working order and very nice condition considering the age and construction, there are imperfections and small marks that may not be described or photographed in detail. I have attempted to describe them to the best of my knowledge, but all imperfections may not be seen or known. All the glass will be removed and packed individually. The spires will be stabilized, and the grass blades (and veneer) protected from damage.
The goal is to have them arrive in exactly the condition seen in the photos. If upon arrival, you find the item is not as described, just contact me. If I made a mistake or something went wrong, a return can be arranged.
